American companies including Kellogg’s, Kraft and McDonald’s, have stopped using artificial dyes abroad while they continue to sell foods with the questionable ingredients to the U.S. market in lieu of their obvious capabilities to use natural alternatives.

According to the FDA, in 2007 Americans were consuming five times more artificial food colorings than they were in 1955.

Picture 1| We like the idea of native gardening. We don’t want to change the landscape drastically and would rather leave everything mostly untouched. It’s already beautiful, why mess with it? I selectively removed weeds and left behind all the native grass, wild flowers and ferns. I found a spot on the side of the rock that had enough soil to plant and we planted our strawberries. Once they grow in it will blend in with all the plant life that was already here.

Picture 2| on the front of the rock we did the same, removed weeds and left behind wild flowers, ferns, wild berries and the giant pokeweed. We planted heirloom garlic from our neighbors in front of the rock.

“Hold down that little Windows key on your keyboard and hit “R”. Type in “MSConfig”, in the startup section enable/disable whatever you want. I personally like to disable just about anything Adobe, Apple, or Oracle puts in there, unless I actually need to run an Oracle component in the background. Those three companies can’t help but attention whore and run on startup and none of there stuff actually needs to run until used. You can probably find a few more things that have no business starting with your machine while you’re at it.”
